Love Makes Room

La Croix kids

First, we need to address crowding in La Croix Kids’ meeting place…the Reign Forest.

Some spaces were so crowded by the end of last year that we were contemplating closing rooms as they hit capacity. We’ve never had to do this and didn’t want to start! We already made some big changes to alleviate crowding in a couple rooms by moving the staff offices out of the Reign Forest and into the North Wing. The offices were then turned into a new classroom. The nursing mother’s room was moved out of the nursery, creating more space for our growing baby population. And a wall was removed on the second floor to make a classroom larger. And last, we moved all 4th graders to the Middle Ground. But, these only fix part of the problem.

Our longer-term needs will be met with the addition of a new playground area to the Reign Forest and necessary renovations to the Middle Ground. The new playground in a different location than the present, will help tremendously with the crowding that takes place in the drop-off/pickup zone in Reign Forest and will create space for an additional classroom in the existing playground area. The Middle Ground renovations will create classroom space and needed updates to accommodate the large increase in numbers that resulted from moving 4th grade to that area.

LA CROIX KIDS

The area we call The Porch has not been significantly renovated since it was built in 1995 as our first worship center. It now serves our Junior and Senior High students. We want to make it an excellent space for our teenagers. A place they are excited to come. A place they want to invite their friends.

The space also gets used often for events outside of Student Ministry and will, after renovation, be a dynamic space for a multitude of uses.

In addition, one of our stated goals in our vision is that we’ll grow to 3,000 in attendance. For that to happen, we will need additional space for worship and the newly renovated Porch adds space for a potential video venue down the road.

Love Builds The Church

“We will pursue opportunities for multisite, church plants and resourcing partner churches to reach lost people who would not come to 3102 Lexington.”

Our goal from the onset of The Next 25  was to start two new campuses within five years.

We opened our Benton campus in November 2014 with great success. A building that was on the verge of closing with 23 members was renovated and reopened as our second campus and is average over 170 in attendance so far in 2015. God is definitely at work in Benton!

The question now is – how many more Benton’s are there? We are praying and searching for the next site. A portion of the funds received from the Love Does campaign will fund the launch of our third campus.

Love Gives Outside The Walls

Our capital campaigns have always included a tithe to missions – to ministries and needs outside the walls of our own church. This time, a larger portion of the campaign will go there because that’s where God’s vision calls us.

ignite house

The Ignite House is the hub of this outreach and it’s in need of major renovations. In addition, we have purchased the house next to the Ignite House, to eventually use as parking as we renovate the existing house to include a meeting space for worship. LOVE DOES will help achieve this goal and make outreach there even more effective.

jefferson school

With over 85% of the students on free and reduced lunch, Jefferson has some of the greatest needs of any school in our area and sits right in the middle of the area we feel God calling us to target for ministry in the name of Jesus. A partnership with Jefferson was begun two years ago and LOVE DOES will enable us to invest even deeper.

orphan care

Over-and-again the scriptures call us to care for the orphan. Previous campaigns have allowed us to build much needed facilities that house and take care of the needs of orphans in Africa. Through LOVE DOES we will be able to invest even more deeply.

Leadership

Church leaders in Mozambique, where we have been involved since 1998, are crying out for leadership development for pastors and for lay leaders. Through our connections with the Willow Creek Association, we are partnering with a church in Tennessee to bring the Global Leadership Summit to Mozambique for the first time.
